Standard configuration concept

 The signal configuration can be altered

by means of the signal matrix (SMT) or
the graphical application (ACT)
functionality of PCM600
 The number and type of function blocks
is fixed
 ACT supports the creation of multi-layer
logic functions utilizing various logical
elements
 The utilization of the analog channels is
defined by the standard configuration
and cannot be changed using the ACT
 The ACT enables improved
documentation of the standard
configuration after the std configuration
has been altered

Multifrequency admittance-based E/F protection, 1/3

 Provides selective directional earth-fault protection for

high-impedance earthed networks
 Operation based on multi-frequency neutral admittance
measurement utilizing fundamental frequency and
harmonic components in the residual voltage and current
 Special filtering algorithm enables reliable and secure
fault direction also during intermittent earth faults
 Provides both reliability and sensitivity combined in one
single protection function:
 Low ohmic and higher ohmic earth faults

 Continuous, transient and intermittent earth faults

 Easy implementation of protection scheme since

dedicating different fault types to separate earth-fault
protection functions and coordinating them is not
necessarily required

 Enables the creation of a cost efficient self-
healing Ethernet communication ring
controlled by a managed switch with rapid
spanning tree protocol (RSTP) support
 The managed switch:
 Controls the consistency of the loop
 Routes the data
 Corrects the data flow in case of a
communication disturbance
 Self-healing Ethernet ring:
 Avoids single point of failure concerns
 Improves the reliability of the communication
 Can be applied for Ethernet based protocols:
IEC 61850, Modbus and DNP3

GOOSE communication benefits

 Expandability and flexibility:

 Flexible modifications without changing the
wiring between the devices
 No device I/Os are needed for the transfer of
data between the devices
 Reduced wiring between the devices
 Possible to add functionality like interlocking
schemes between the cubicles in existing
switchgear (retrofit)
 Supervised data transfer (connection and
data quality)
 REF615 meets the GOOSE performance
requirements for tripping applications in
distribution substations, as defined by the
IEC 61850 standard

GOOSE messaging utilized for CB failure protection

Relay A  On detecting a fault on the outgoing feeder

Relay B sends a trip command to CB “B”
and initiates the CB failure protection
function
 CB “B” fails to open
 The CB failure protection function of Relay
B sends a trip command to Relay A using
GOOSE GOOSE
message
 The use of GOOSE communication
eliminates the need for dedicated wiring
 CB failure protection can be added without
renewing the wiring and with minimum
