It started after I traveled to some countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand for the last few years. One thing that I realized after traveling to these countries is how unstable Indonesia's economics is (compared to other countries I have visited). For instance, economic inequality in Indonesia is one of the problems that the Indonesian government can not resolve for years. As a result, the gap between the richest and the poorest in Indonesia has grown faster than any other country in Southeast Asia. By applying to this program, I want to learn more about such problems, what caused them to happen and how to solve them. Furthermore, economics has been one of the subjects I have been very passionate about since high school.
2. Why did you apply to study in Hungary?
As a part of European countries, education in Hungary is not something to be doubted. Moreover, Hungary itself is a developed country, so by studying in Hungary, I can observe and analyze how developed countries like Hungary solve their economic problems. Hopefully, I can apply that knowledge and help Indonesia become one in the future.
3. What do I expect to gain from my studies?
After I graduate from my study in Hungary, I hope to get enough knowledge related to economics (specifically economic development) which I did not get when I took my undergraduate degree. Furthermore, as important as technical skills are, I hope to acquire enough soft skills such as critical thinking (as I interact in a global environment) by applying to this program. Moreover, I believe that my network will be expanding as I have to make friends with people from many different countries.
