1. Summarize the content of the video presentation in your own words.

In summary of the video Philippines maybe considered deeply with their colonial mentality
especially now a days it was affected by long history of colonialism. It was reflected in our pop
culture, media, lifestyle influenced by ideologist of colonizers. Instead of our Philippines pride or
our deep root will suffice as our identity like our traditionalism the national people seems that it
was lost and shamed to coped with other developed country. Philippine culture and resilience
are the instrument of our independence. Our country is consolidations of different culture most
notably Americans, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese although China is not a colonialize
Philippines. Spanish was the long history of colonialism that is why some of our words was
adopt from them like Diyos, eskwela, kalye, kabayo, kwento, karne, etc. One of the strongest
influence of Spaniards are Christianity that’s makes us predominant in Asia, the power of church
is influencing in making law like anti-abortion, anti-divorce, catholic school, surnames like
Flores, names like Rafael is origin of Spain. Also, Philippines was name after King Philip II of
Spain; Manila was name and selected as capital of the Philippines by the Spanish. America’s
notable aspect in our culture is the concept of our freedom includes free religious like other
religion such as Iglesia ni Cristo, democracy, free education like public school. Also, many
English words are adapted in that period such as ballpen (bolpen), computer (komputer) etc. In
Japanese period cultural influenced are media, technology such as karaoke, videoke, cameras
and film. Filipinos should reexamine their mindset about colonial mentality for our own identity
despite the marks of colonialism.
2. What was the concept of Christianity brought about by the Spaniards to the Philippines?

The concept of Christianity brought by the Spaniards to the Philippines is to convert the
majority of native Filipinos to the new world of faith by spreading this religion to the Philippines
through Spanish missionaries and settlers arrived in Cebu in waves beginning in the early 16th
century. That’s why they build church and catholic school. At this time, Philippines is
predominant Catholic in Asia.
