Ram Naresh Singh Chairman, DVC 7% July, 2021 Dear Colleagues Today our beloved organization turns 74. | extend my warm greetings to each one of you on this special ‘occasion On this day in the year 1948, DVC was established as the first multipurpose river project of independent In The conception and creation of such a large and unique project spread across approximately 25,000 sq. kms was indeed an engineering marvel. Both National & International dignitaries were in awe of this grand design. DVC gradually became the pride of independent India. The inception of DVC brought the mighty rain fed Damodar river under control and electricity from DVC power stations helped promote industrial growth in its operational area. | remember and salute the planners and stakeholders for creating this great organization. Over the next seven decades, our organization has grown manifold. Today, DVC supplies 24x7 power to eight states across the country, to several consumers in our valley area and even beyond the borders, With the passage of time, the business environment has become challenging and extremely competitive. Cost effective generation, reliability and customer service are the only mantras for survival. On these parameters we have proven our worth but we need to do better. Our power stations have been consistently ranked amongst the top ten in the country and we have proved that we are second to none, However, it is my strong belief that we have tremendous potential for not only sustaining this performance but doing even better than ever before. Itis our collective responsibility to ensure that our organization remains vibrant and viable. The last year and especially the past few months have been difficult for all of us because of the pandemic. With a heavy heart, | also like to pay tribute to the departed employees who succumbed to Covid-19. Their dedicated service will always be remembered by all of us. I also like to appreciate the efforts put in by all stations to manage the pandemic and the employees for their hard work to ensure uninterrupted power generation, transmission & distribution and business continuity. ‘As we step into the 74th year of our existence, we are bestowed with multifarious responsibilities. We must ‘embrace change in both technology and mindset. Accordingly, we will be rolling out technology initiatives and adopting renewable energy to achieve an optimal mix of conventional and non-conventional power in line with the changes in the Indian power sector. | urge all employees to be a part of these changes for a better Dvc. Next year around this time we will begin our 75 year celebrations, a rare feat for few organizations in the ‘country. Let us think and dream big so that we become the most preferred power organization in the country by the time we turn 75, once again wish everyone a safe and joyous 74th Foundation Day.
