Executive Summery

Founded in 1937, Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese company that engages in the design,
manufacture, assembly, and sale of passenger cars, minivans, commercial vehicles, and related parts
and accessories primarily in Japan, North America, Europe, and Asia. Current brands include Toyota,
Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino. Toyota Motor Corporation is the leading auto manufacturer and the eighth
largest company in the world. As of March 31, 2020, Toyota Motor Corporation’s annual revenue was
$213 billion and it employed 333,498 people.

Introduction:
Toyota has founded new areas for development through innovations made in their management
information systems implemented for shipment. The company is enabling all over the world with clients
and global leaders to enhance the process of shipment. To attain this, Toyota looked to analyze present
shipment systems utilizing their clients as well as data from other organizations. Pursuing these
enhancements to shipment systems was an extraordinary development area for Toyota, since they were
able to improve their client base and the needs of present clients. The usage of management
information systems and networking were critical to aiding the company to attain success in enhancing
its shipment systems.

Transaction processing system of Toyota Motors:


Transactions are the routine day-to-day activities performed by most organization. some are commercial
transactions (buying, selling products and services, paying bills ·others involve recording or retrieving
data (making a booking, enrolling a student at university looking up results , Most individual transactions
are relatively simple, but in most organizations, there are very large numbers of them - so speed and

efficiency are important considerations . Toyota Motors has become the largest conglomerate company
due to their effective transaction processing system. These management information systems offer
effective management for warehouses of the whole procedure from the period products are obtained, to
storage and location control, to shipment. Individuals, products, and data are addressed, wastes are
removed, and everyday enhancements are advocated. The Toyota WMS are tasked to offer an important
function in generating comprehensive reports out of huge volumes of warehouse information that would
otherwise be primarily considered as junk to decision makers. By analyzing these outputs warehouse
management officers of Toyota can determine patterns and trends that would have stayed invisible if the
raw information were consulted in manual terms.

At the beginning of the day about many decades before when Toyota just started their company on that
time Toyota did their all kinds of transactional activities manually due to work manually, so many dispute
arises on that time on the other hand that time technology was not much advance like today. In the past,
information had to be isolated individually by the people as per the need and policy of the company.
Eventually, data and information was differentiated and rather than the gathering of mass of information,
significant and accurate information that was needed by the company was the only one saved. The
operations of Toyota have been impacted by tremendous developments in technology. Because of this,
manufacturing operations within the company have significantly improved. For instance, vehicles and car
parts are transported ahead of time, and this prevents large amounts of money from being utilized for
storing activities (Fujimoto, 2001).The Toyota Comprehensive Warehouse Management System offers
remedies for the organization concerning car and process structuring and planning for the smooth flow of
operations. The Toyota Comprehensive Warehouse Management System aids the organization with
regard to the enhancement of the operational procedures (Toyota Comprehensive Warehouse
Management System, 2010).The smooth flow of operations is accomplished within Toyota through the
Toyota Comprehensive Warehouse Management System, where the structuring of each car model and
warehousing processes from the prototyping level to the production phase is attained in one structure
(Shingo, 1989). This limits unnecessary repetition of processes and the need for interfaces as data is
secured in a centralized system. Excellent coordination with suppliers offers great opportunities for more
efficient product development with suppliers via the Internet.

Decision Support System of Toyota Motors:


The revolution of technology has made people become computer savvy. Businesses and huge
corporations have also embraced technology in different forms in order to enhance the efficiency and
effectiveness of operations. The need to form well-informed decisions has led to the present trend of
companies using decision support Systems (DSS). The DSS has the capacity to integrate and centralize
information from all department to one platform for straightforward access and retrieval by the decision-
makers. Thus, the DSS has made it possible for manager organizations to make effective decisions that

take into consideration all the relevant information from every section of the company. Better decision
making has resulted in better investments for organizations and better performance. It has reduced the
time taken to make decisions and has enhanced the effective flow of communication in organizations. In
fact, reliance on DSS has also enabled customers to form informed decisions while selecting a
corporation, product, since they're ready to get the maximum amount information as possible about the
product from the system. Power (2007) asserts that the event of DSS has provided integrated support for
managers who are either making decisions alone, in teams, and indifferent company hierarchies to form
rational decisions. Management Decision Systems (MDS) has been relied upon by marketing and
production managers to coordinate production planning in companies. The relevance of Decision Support
Systems in organizations' emergence of a global economy has made it necessary for companies and
economies to embrace information systems. Advanced economies in Europe and Asia depend upon
imports and exports, thus information systems became important tools to watch the balance of payments
for these economies. Companies such as Toyota has relied on information systems to distribute their core
business functions in product design, manufacturing, finance and Decision Support System customer
support to locations in other countries where the job can be performed more cost effectively. This has
enabled the organization to save costs in production and manufacturing of vehicles. It has also increased
the capacity of the company and enabled it to operate globally more effectively .Toyota Motor
Corporation The Toyota Company operates in the vehicle manufacturing industry. It manufactures a
variety of vehicles and vehicle body-parts around the globe. It has factories and assembly plants in
different countries but relies on and integrated information system to coordinate its operations around the
globe. The company is well known for its management philosophy and audits approach to mass market
production of hybrid vehicles.

Executive Support System of Toyota Motors:


A warehouse management system is a part of an executive support system. An executive support system
is performed by that person who exist in the peak of the company and control the company by his
superior intelligence after all the department passes their reports to the executive support system on the
basis of their report they have finalized their decision and made an effective decision for companies
betterment. Toyota Motors executive support system they have performed some primary role that is they
control the movement and storage of materials within a warehouse .Process the associated transactions,
including shipping, receiving, put away and picking. Direct and optimize stock put away based on real-
time information about the status of bin utilization .When Toyota Warehouse Management System
(WMS) combined with the logistics equipment of TOYOTA Material Handling Company, they are able
to provide customers with Optimized logistics solutions at their worksite.

Toyota is known for its emphasis on lean production. Enterprise Resource Planning has been at the guts
of meeting this company’s strategy. Currently, the organization has firm control over its processes and
practices. This permits the firm to feature value to customers further on eliminate waste continually.

Toyota often examined the activities that add value to the corporate and reduces the worth of adding
activities through its ERP system. The firm realizes that lean production isn't a one-day event; it's a
continuing process that the organization must work on throughout production.

Lean production centers on five key principles: the pursuit of perfection, customer pull, value stream
mapping, uninterrupted flow, and value definition. Toyota has been able to achieve of these principles
because of the ERP system. It's reduced downtime likewise as delays, scrap, reworking, and inefficient
inventory handling through business intelligence.

Customer Relationship Management usually called as CRM is a formation of 3P's People,
Process, and Planning using proper technology. It is philosophy itself which means management
of customers through a proper organization management. It seeks understanding of all people
working in organizations and for customers, so that both present and future to be on the same
platform. It is also called as an integrated approach to managing relationships of service provider
and customer by focusing the customer retention. We all have known that a product should never be
sold unless it has carefully manufactured and fully tested in the commercial trial, with completely
satisfactory results. We have been seen in the recent studies that Toyota Motors did a tremendous job

across the globe and their sophisticated activities are sustained continuingly the way they captured the
market its quite impossible for their key customer to switch off from Toyota and move somewhere else .

Supply Chain Management System of Toyota Motors:


A supply chain is the system of organizations, people, activities, information and resources
involved in moving a product or service from supplier to customer. Supply chain activities
transform raw materials and components into a finished product that is delivered to the end
customer. Toyota motor corporation vehicle production system is a way of “making things” that
is referred to as “lean manufacturing system”. Toyota in obtaining raw materials, they do not
process their own, or create your own, they use a third party, they handed the small parts, such as
leather seats, steering wheel, tire, to local companies, but to the nature of strategic importance,
like a machine, they import from Japan (center), it's all to maintain the quality standard that was
created Toyota.

Knowledge Management System of Toyota Motors:


A knowledge management system is one kind of Information System that stores and acquire
knowledge to improve understanding, collaboration, and process alignment. Knowledge
management systems can exist within organizations or teams, but they can also be used to center
your knowledge base for your users or customers. In recent study shows that Toyota wants to
transfer knowledge of its production system to new employees typically they selects a core
group of two to three hundred new employees and sends them for several months training and
work on the assembly line in one of Toyota’s existing factories. After few months of studying
the production system and working alongside experienced Toyota assembly line workers, the
fresh activist are sent back to the new factory site. At last of individual work week, groups of
Toyota production activist spend one to two hours analyzing the performance and problems in
quality or productivity. Each group proposes “countermeasures” to correct identified problems,
and discusses the results. Through personal interactions in such Quality Circle group settings,
Toyota employees share their ideas for improvement, devise steps to test new ideas for
improvement, and assess the results of their tests.
