As I listened to the verdict on Jose Rizal, one that stuck in my mind was Rizal's response to the presence

of Pio Valenzuela (whom I vividly remember in the film Rizal in Dapitan) because for me, these were the
two Rizal had many daring encounters with the vice he knew was necessary but very dangerous due to
its "delicate nature", where Rizal's careful discourse with Pio shows Rizal's careful discourse in giving
advice, as well as in the transcript. by Rizal to the judge's question that can be read in "The trial of Rizal"
in which Rizal boldly answered what happened, and further explained the situation where the rebellion
was. That we have to wait for the right time when all Filipinos will be united.

The last moments of Rizal’s life can prove that he is only human, he is not perfect. When he faced death,
Rizal made a public statement condemning the Philippine revolution (he called it useless, deceptive) and
retracted his writings against the church, these two steps of his seem vague in a like him who is a
national hero. However, we must consider that these steps he may have taken only to save his life.
However, Rizal remains one of the greatest symbols of Philippine nationalism because until the last
moment of his life, he and served the Filipinos. He wrote letters for his loved ones, he wrote poems
about his love for the Motherland, and he retracted everything he wrote against the church in order to
marry his beloved Josephine Bracken. He showed us how to truly love our country. His life and
martyrdom was his way of building our country that we love; and he challenges us to create a way to
help the development of our country.

There is a lot of knowledge of history that was not taught in grade school or high school that students
should know so that they can become more aware of the truth. I learned a lot in this webinar, including
the hardships experienced by Paciano Rizal, the events after Rizal's death and its causes, as well as the
"achievements" of Rizal, Bonifacio and other heroes. Their "concept of nation" is also desired by many,
hopefully it can be applied/happen one day.

If we look at the last hours of Rizal’s life, even the days that passed before it, they give us the
opportunity to see in a humble and humane perspective our “national hero”. However, he was brave,
courageous, and acted with integrity and dignity. He continues to dream of a better future as he seeks
the peace and simplicity of the past. So I think, because of this, we should remember him because it is
also easy for people to be frightened and go against their own words and beliefs. But it was his bravery,
his staying true to his idealism, and hope that could not be hidden, and it was this spirit of his that
inspired an entire nation to rise up against questioning and come together as one united Filipinos.

Through this discourse, I gained a clearer understanding of certain aspects of Rizal’s life. Despite Rizal’s
last hours he makes sure he can use it meaningfully. He said goodbye to his loved ones by writing letters
and he gave away his equipment. In fact, Rizal showed kindness even when he was in a painful situation.
Above all, Rizal bravely died for the people.
Many misconceptions as to how the Filipino revolution started are associated with Rizal's death in
Luneta when in fact, in a way, Rizal has become a victim due to the revolution. Filipinos today must
understand that the creation of Rizal's manifesto did not accord with Bonifacio's goals and it was
restricted by the Spaniards. In this Manifesto, Rizal believed that both as a man of his country and as a
human being that a person should cherish their lives at most, and he blatantly stated to address that the
revolution as a means to stop oppression is barbarous and a beginning to useless suffering. Overall, the
discussion on the manifesto piqued my interest the most because of its bitter truth on how fellow
Filipinos resort to deception and barbarous endeavors to be free from slavery and our colonizers.

i never really knew much about Rizal's death, I just knew that he was shot at Luneta. But now, I realize
how truly terrifying what he had to go through was. at how even hours before facing his own death, his
faith in God did not falter. Despite how he had every reason to be angry at the Lord he was able to face
death with a heart filled with love knowing that he is doing this for the country.

What is humbling and beautiful about Rizal's final hours was his true devotion to Catholicism which was
his religion ever since he was a child. This was seen when Rizal asked Fr. Viza for the carving of the
Sacred Heart Statue which he made while he was still a student in the Ateneo. This just shows that
despite all the criticisms and backlash he got from the Church throughout his life, he still stayed true to
his devotion to his God and his religion. It is important to note this because despite Rizal's clashes with
many of the practices and abuses are done by the Friars he was not a man who lost his sense of religion,
virtue, or morality up until the very end. This is something we can definitely inspire to be and learn from.

Honestly, most of us were just taught of the sheer information that Rizal was shot at Luneta. That was
pretty much about it. So listening to this discourse truly unraveled the scenes beyond that sudden shot.
What led to it, and what had come before it. The last hours of Rizal truly humanized him. Just like the
rest of us, he went through doubts, fears, and susceptibility. These led him to heavily call on his belief,
and rely on his Catholic faith. He never let go of this and continued his true devotion. Despite the
injustices and malpractices, he saw in Christianity during his life, he never made this as a reason to let go
of his belief in God, and morality as a person. It makes sense that during his last few hours, he held on to
this and just put his faith in God.

Through this, people are able to see Rizal in a more realistic view, someone who experiences fear and
shows vulnerability in the extremely challenging moments in their life. During Rizal's last moments he
turned to Religion to ask for guidance and strength, and that in itself shows a more realistic view of him
wherein just like many Filipinos, religion is what they turn to when they are in need of help.

Another thing that I also appreciated was how this video made it known that Rizal made a strong
statement about his disapproval of a revolution and how he did not see its use. I believe that it is an
important thing to keep in mind whenever he is included in any topic because it is a truth that is hidden
and sometimes even lied about to the public, usually to let Rizal be known in a different way than who
he really is and what he truly stood for.

This video is a reminder to every Filipino that even though we look up to Rizal and his flawlessness as
the nation's hero, he is still a human, a human who sacrificed a whole lot for the country. And with his
sacrifice comes the pain of leaving his loved ones and his acceptance of his own death. I especially am
amazed at the love letters Rizal gave to our country before his death. This proves how much he loves the
country and his countrymen. We must always honor our nation's hero, a Filipino whose love for the
country united the whole nation.
