Details:
a) Some assistants can be difficult to work with.
b) Some parents have little knowledge about their child’s disability, and you may have to
have awkward conversations with them.

plenty of growth.
d) You may have to sit with a child who needs to de-escalate.
e) You must manage difficult children. High poverty and stress levels can contribute to these
problems.
f) Your duties and responsibilities can constantly change.
g) You will probably have multiple IEP meetings for each student (not just once a year).
h) You must work with many adults – e.g., experts, assistants, general educators, and parents.

4) Get a calendar or develop a special system.
5) Learn to be a leader. You must be assertive.
6) Respect them. Communicate with them clearly and concisely with sensitivity.
7) Learn tips and tricks from more experienced teachers or from videos.
8) Learn to write IEPs faster.
