Electromagnetic Induction

4. (a) Define magnetic flux.

(b) A square loop of wire, 60 mm on a side, lies with its plane perpendicular
to a uniform magnetic field of 0.8 T.
(i) Find the magnetic flux through the loop.
(ii) If the plane makes an angle of 60 with the magnetic field, determine
the magnetic flux.

5. (a) State Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction.
(a) State Lenz’s law.
(b) A bar magnet is positioned near a coil of wire as shown in Figure 1.
Determine the direction of the current when the magnet,
(i) is not moving.
(ii) is approaching the coil.

Extra question
1. A coil of wire (500 turns) with radius 4.00 cm is placed between the poles of a
magnet, where the magnetic field is uniform and at an angle of 40 with the
plane of the coil. The field decreases at a rate of 0.200 T s-1. Find the
magnitude of the induced e.m.f.
