Subject 11. Oil & Gas/Refinery. Issue: acid gas removal, H2S selective removal & CO2 slip.

Market players:
BASF solvents aMDEA & sMDEA are non corrosive and provides low energy consumption keeping OPEX
& CAPEX very low - the most important licensor. Exxon with Flexsorb series of solvents and simple
process, can selectivelly remove H2S lower than 10 ppmv & it is the best for TGT units. Shell the second
ww player, is using Sulfinol X who is capable to deal with challenging gases with COS/RSH at very low
solvent rates which determine small reboiler duty & equipment size. Prosernat with HilowDEA, MDEA
MAX and energ.MDEA covers a wide range of gas treatments. Uop Amine Guard plus ucarsol are recognize
especially for LNG pretreatment, perform well at lower acid feeds, but in general cannot achieve lower
energy consumption compared with BASF or Shell. An interesting aliance between BASF & Exxon propose
OASE sulfexx with lower energy consumption than Flexsorb, higher degradation resistance - they are
pretending and the solvent works very well at higher T which minimize further energy consumption and is
suitable especially for TGT units & acid gas removal applications- for the moment no many industrial results
are available, but the new solvent it seams to have big potential.
