The NHS plays an essential role in providing the public with a comprehensive health

service basing on their clinical need rather than the ability of an individual to pay. England has at

least 217 NHS that provides planned and urgent care. Primary care is the initial point of contact

for individuals who need healthcare often provided by professionals such as pharmacists,

dentists, and GPs. The global healthcare IT market has been growing since 2019 and is projected

to increase in the next decade. An example of the organizations in the health sector includes

McKesson Corporation. McKesson was founded in 1833 and is headquartered in California, the

United States. The company is engaged in healthcare information technology, specialty care,

community oncology, retail pharmacy, and healthcare supply management solutions (Karhade et

al., 2020). The company distributes generic and branded pharmaceutical drugs as well as other

products relating to healthcare and provides practice management, business solutions, and

clinical support to community-based oncology. With the organization’s strong network

distribution, the geographic presence of the firm promotes the market share and supply in North

America, Middle East, and Latin America, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Africa.

The main channel of McKesson includes its retail channels and sales team (national and

regional pharmaceutical chains, mass merchandisers, and independent pharmacies). The

company promotes its products and services through conferences, trade shows, webinars,

seminars, its website, and social media pages, including Twitter, YouTube, Linked In, and

Facebook. To begin with, McKesson uses a Facebook page to communicate with customers. The

firm uses Facebook to enable an ongoing sharing of information and dialogue among channel

users. The Facebook page of McKesson provides a vertical-specific news feed. The cover page

lets an individual know who the company is working with, and the information helps in keeping

and updating the followers on the latest news in the industry.

The company has a Twitter account (@McKesson_HIT). The social strategy in the

Twitter account encourages the customers and followers to visit different websites of the firm.

The company often adds a provoking question or a unique spin to a tween which entails an

article link that encourages the followers to read information and share their feedback after

consuming the article (Vis et al., 2019). Besides, McKesson Corporation has a YouTube channel

that helps in promoting their products. The unique feature about McKesson is the way the firm

runs and how videos are organized in their YouTube channel. The firm is focusing on solving the

customer’s pain points through creating playlists such as Better Business Health, Better Patient

Care, and Better Connectivity. The firm does a good job in both creating greater content but

organizing in a manner that speaks of different decision-makers and customer segments.

The company has a YouTube channel used in the healthcare division with a combination

of information, interviews, and solution insights on the clinical trials of the firm. More so,

LinkedIn gives the firm an opportunity to engage with the community, industry experts, and

thought leaders, and the platform creates an opportunity for the firm to set up or join groups

(Chand, 2018). McKesson LinkedIn to engage the customers in a discussion, share an article of

interest and seek advice. Through LinkedIn, the firm is able to create a meaningful and build a

credibility network from established individuals in the industry. The advantages that the firm

gets on the use of LinkedIn include getting connected, build trust for their services and goods, as

well as promote the brand authority.
