TOPIC 6

Circular Motion

Uniform Circular Motion(UCM)

It is the circular motion of a mass at constant speed.
Circumference
The distance of one revolution around the perimeter of the circle
Tangential Velocity
The velocity of the mass under UCM has constant magnitude and changing
direction, which is tangent to the circle, meaning that it touches the
circumference only at one point.
Acceleration Vector
It is pointed towards the center of the circle.
Graph
Tangential velocity(y-axis) vs time(x-axis)
Circumference and Average speed formula
Circumference = (2𝜋)(radius)
Average speed = distance/time = circumference/time
Average speed = (2𝜋)(radius)/time
Centripetal Acceleration formula
Centripetal Acceleration(a sub c) = [(4)(𝜋^2)(radius)]/time^2
Centripetal Acceleration(a sub c) = (velocity)^2/radius
