As Hellen Keller once quoted “Until the great mass of the people shall be filled with the sense of

responsibility for each other’s welfare, social justice can never be achieved.” Diversity, inclusion, and
social justice are key to the success of any organization. The world is now largely interconnected
culturally as well as demographically. Thus, the need to improve diversity and inclusion to prevent
individuals being left out. It is better to build bridges for connection than having obstacles to
inclusion, for unity brings development. As the adage, says “Together we stand, divide we fall,”
inclusiveness and social justice are needed to tackle 21 st century problems ranging from climate
change to innovation. I do agree that being an alien, based on your race, social class, or sexual
orientation a new environment can be challenging. I remember clearly how queasy I had felt when I
had to school in the far Northern part of my country. Being the only Akan in a pool of Dagaate
students was not a child’s play. I barely understood the local dialect, though we were taught in
English. It took me weeks to adjust to their lifestyle and frankly speaking, they were my worst. Bit by
bit I gained their trust with most being staunchly conservative against foreigners. My experience
taught me to help incoming foreign students to adjust to the lifestyle there. Though resources were
not the best to go through such a project, we had support which campaigned for inclusions and
diversity. I would not say it was a wish come through but we made great progress. I believe the
Marietta community will help me build on my existing plan to improve diversity worldwide by
strengthening our world bodies to face trouble ahead particularly climate change. I believe in a
united world fighting against the menacing climate change by incorporating engineering, philosophy
and art from all corners of the earth.
