An annual prize-giving ceremony is an annual event in

which the school awards the most meritorious students,

the athletes, and other cultural activities. Almost every
school organizes prize giving ceremony every year. It is
a colorful and enjoyable event to the students, teachers
and the guardians.

The last prize giving ceremony of our school was held

on 1st January this year on the school compound. For
this occasion, we were busy for about a week in
decorating the school building and premises. All the
buildings in our school were painted white and the
premises were decorated with balloons, festoons,
coloured papers, etc., our central field was also
decorated nicely. Special guests and the guardians of
students were invited to this occasion. A big marquee was
set for it.

With the arrival of the chief guest, the function started at

10.00 a.m. the chief guest took his seat at the stage. Our
headmaster raised the annual flag. Then the national
anthem was sung. While singing the national anthem
every audience stood up. There were two nicely
decorated tables on which the prizes and medals were
arranged in proper order. On the other side, there was a
platform for delivering the speech. The ceremony began
with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Then the
headmaster delivered his speech. In his speech, he read
our school result. Everyone was surprised hearing the
improvement of our school result. After the
Headmasters’ speech, the chief guest came to deliver his
speech. He congratulated the institution for its brilliant
performance. He gave the students valuable pieces of
advice. Then the main ceremony began. The Headmaster
called the students by name for receiving prizes. The
chief guest shook hands and gave the prizes to the
students. I also got one prize for doing good result last
year.

Thus the function came to an end. Both the guardians

and the students enjoyed the function. The memory of
this day is still fresh in my mind. I will never forget it.
One of the most memorable wedding programmes that I have ever
attended and enjoyed is the wedding ceremony of my cousin whose
name is Ruby. It was in the year 2017 and I was 21 years old at that
time. If I remember it correctly, it was in the mid-summer, and I took a
4-day leave from my university to attend the programme in my
hometown.

My cousin Ruby got married that day and she was the daughter of my
eldest maternal uncle. Among our cousins, Ruby was the eldest, and she
was 26 years old when she got married to a doctor. I was at the
wedding from the very beginning, from shopping till the departure of the
bride to her father-in-law's house.  The last part was a sad experience
for all of us when our beloved cousin Ruby left the house to start a new
life.

To celebrate the day, the house and the yard in front of it were
decorated marvellously. We celebrated the ceremony for 3 whole days
and hundreds of relatives and neighbours came to congratulate the
bride and they brought gifts for the new couple. The host prepared
several delicious dishes and people wore their best dresses in the
programme. People enjoyed the festivity, colourful decoration, food and
the opportunity to sing and dance to the music.

It was a traditional wedding that followed the general customs of our

country. It was nothing different from the traditional marriages that are
generally performed in most of the part of the country. In fact, we
enjoyed the wedding because a typical marriage ceremony in our
country has lots of interesting and enjoyable parts that people celebrate
with boundless joy. We mostly followed those customs and thoroughly
enjoyed the whole wedding programme for three whole days.
