Peony Order Details and Flower Care

Ordering InformationWe recommend that you schedule your peonies to be delivered at least three
days before your event. Peonies are shipped through FedEx and will arrive within 2 business days.
Customers located in the MatSu Valley/Anchorage area can pick up their order or have it delivered
for a reduced rate.
Care Instructions
The flowers should be cared for as soon as possible. Peonies are packaged before they are fully
bloomed and might be in different stages of opening. Different care is required depending on the
stage of bloom.
To make your peonies bloom faster, cut the bottom of the stem and place them in clean, warm
water inside a clean container. They can be placed in a warm environment out of direct sunlight.
To make your peonies bloom slower, keep the flowers cold in a refrigerator and out of water. Do
not let your peonies freeze!
Rehydrating Peonies
Remove the peonies from the refrigerator and discard any paper.
Fill a clean five-gallon bucket with fresh, room-temperature water. Fill with just enough water to
cover the bottom portion of the stems, which is about three to four inches.
Cut your stems and place them in the bucket. Do not overcrowd the stems.
To cut your stems, use a clean knife or scissors and cut the stems at an angle under running
water.
Cutting the stems at an angle maximizes surface area and increases water
Cutting with clean tools prevents bacteria from reducing the life of the flower.
Cutting the stems under running water minimizes air bubbles and makes water absorption
more effective.
Allow the flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate. It can take up to 8 to 12 hours to properly rehydrate.
Periodically check the water levels, as flowers drink a lot of water when they first arrive and the
water may need to be refilled. Change water every 24 hours and re-cut stems every 24 to 48 hours
to keep flowers fresh.
Peonies will last for up to a week if kept in proper conditions. The flowers will change color hues
during the vase life and the color tones might lighten.
