Realizations and Contributions as a Young Leader during the Covid19 Pandemic

The Covid19 Pandemic crisis that we are currently experiencing truly caught all of us off-
guard. It came with no warnings and continues to affect our once normal way of living. I being a
young person and only in my 20s really took rather heavy blow in this pandemic. I felt that I do
not have any means to even help anyone because I am also powerless just like them. I owe it to
our front liners and my parents to change that perspective I had of being powerless. Their
sacrifices and selflessness opened my perspective to see a lot of things in different light. They
helped me to realize that even through small things and acts I can contribute to my community. It
is always quoted that to be a fine leader you need to be a good listener and a follower first. I
think that as a young leader these are qualities that I must possess and practice through simple
things and acts. These simple acts are following the strict guidelines implemented by our
government to fight this pandemic and listening to the rules and regulations issued by our local
government units. Another one is by strictly staying at home to prevent further spreading of the
virus. Wearing a face mask and maintaining proper social distancing are also simple things that I
strictly adhered to and follow. These may be small acts but when combined together are truly
beneficial in saving a life. Every one of us can contribute to the betterment of our community
and I believe that as a young leader and a future teacher I should first teach these to our young
generation especially the children because they are the ones who are utterly powerless in a fight
with an enemy they do not know and cannot see. Age is not a hindrance because the only thing
we need to fight and contribute to our community is through our willingness. The willingness to
help and willingness to believe that everything will be okay and that we will once come back
again to normal.
