Which period of
geologic time was the last in which dinosaurs lived?

The dinosaurs went extinct at the end of Cretaceous period. It is the last

2. Why are sedimentary rocks more useful than metamorphic or igneous

rocks in establishing the relative ages of rock?

Sedimentary rocks (made from mud, sand, gravel or fossil shells) and
volcanic lava flows are laid down in layers or beds. They build up over time so
that that the layers at the bottom of the pile are older than the ones at the top.
That is why sedimentary rock are the best basis on determining the relative ages
of rock rather than metamorphic and igneous rock. In the study of rock strata
called stratigraphy. The sedimentary rocks are the aids on determining the
relative age of fossils found within the strata. It shows that these rocks normally
form relatively horizontal, parallel layers with younger layers forming on top.
