I understand"we shouldn't be the ones to teach them" cuz no black person should be
explaining themselves on thew train
but who will. Because our experiences and stories are personal and we do not want someone who doesn't look like us to speak on our experiences but we also dont want to be the ones to say so. We cannot have both sides. While someone doesn't teach cultural enlightenment theres someone always teaching racism. this is just something we would have to grit our teeth for. I think the idea of a student - intervention group (specifically of minorities in the school who can articulate their views and teach kids is a better solution than harsh consequences that will make them a code switcher) Black people ashopuldn't have to code switch but i digress while the child's brain is still developing it is better to train them in a school setting not to continue this cycle for our kid's kids to deal with and have the same conversation. Teenagers learn more from their friends than teachers if you think about it. the way they say their words, the slang they use and social skills. Having a non- authoritive figure makes it easeir for the problematic person's views to change instead of getting defense or having an adult force you into a position that you dont agree with. All an adult telling you what to do is ill just not say it around "them" so i dont have to hear this again. but the cycle still continues
