For just under 40 years, I have had the honor to work on behalf of PK-Grade 12 students and staffas a teacher/administrator in Minnesota's prestigious public education system ~ most recently as your Brainerd Warrior Superintendent. One ‘of my absolute greatest professional achievements was to have been selected by our Brainerd Board of Education, to serve as your ‘educational leader! Iam humbled to have been provided this opportunity Thave had the most wonderful career in PK-Grade 12 public education and believe that Brainerd Public Schools i inthe right place for ‘me to make a decision that aligns with my personal and professional goals. This evening, | am prepared to ask the Brainerd Board of Education to accept my Letter of Retirement, effective June 30, 2022. {As Treflect on the past six years and look toward the exciting future ahead for Brainerd Public Schools, Ihave great pride inthe accomplishments that have occurred in partnership with our outstanding Board of Education, dedicated district staff, talented students, supportive parents/funilies, and our ever-generous community. [ am most proud of: ‘+ The opportunity and privilege to serve as your superintendent for the past six years! Together, we provided high quality educational ‘opportunites for our eames, passed one ofthe largest fcility bond referendums in MN (meeting the needs of 13 facilites including the Gichi-zifbi Center forthe Ars), implemented 1:1 technology for all, ed with equity as our district priority, provided a ‘well-rounded education (academic, arts, athletics and activities) forall, and courageously addressed the challenges of an unprecedented global pandemic just to name a few highlights. ‘+ The Board of Education for believing in me and my leadership. When selected, the Board of Education went through an extensive search process to ensure they were choosing the right leader atthe right time. They ensured that I had the skillset necessary to lead cur district forward. am confident they will do the same suceession planning and prioritization to find cur next educational leader! ‘+ Our district staff for providing opportunities, innovation, and success for our students to become productive, competent and contributing citizens. Our practitioners prioritize every leaner, living up to our district mission: “Brainerd Public Schools, in partnership with the community, will ensure all students achieve their individual potential by providing the highest-quality programs and resources to prepare learners for an ever-changing global society.” + Our awesome students! Our Brainerd Warriors are the “best ofthe best” as they demonstrate their resiliency, aptitudes, flexibility and grit each and every day and in every ares. I'm so proud of our kids! + Ourincredible parents and community members. Ther partnership, collaboration and vision ensures the future of high quality ‘ducation with Brainerd Public Schools. Passing the three-queston referendum is a premier example of, “a community parnership focused on the high quality education.” This election ensured that our safe and secure facilities provide quality leaming. environments, technological enhancements, emphasis on the four-A’s and workforce development opportunities for our future ‘+ The courageous leadership demonstrated throughout the COVID pandemic. Through the past 22 months, we have rallied during an ‘extremely dificult time in an effort to teach (whether in-person, hybrid or on-line) and to leam while providing a safe and healthy learning environment forall students and staff My Warrior Family, we have worked in collaboration to provide best practice teaching and learning opportunities for our children. Together, we have worked in partnership and accomplished miracles! It has been my honor to lead Brainerd Public Schools during my career. As I have said so many times, “there is no more important job in the world than that ofa teacher. We are all teachers working on behalf of our future!” In celebration of my awesome and rewarding career, I submit my Letter of Retirement while ensuring myself the ‘opportunity to explore additional exciting options for the future with my husband, fimily and community. I am committed to continue ‘working together, with you, until June 30, 2022. I will lead and finish strong it’s the Warrior Way! Thank you for everything!
