Chapter P4  Turning effects of forces

I don’t know much I need to do more I am really confident
about this work on this that I know and fully
understand this
The moment of a force is a measure of its turning
effect.

When a system is in equilibrium, the resultant force is

zero and the resultant turning effect is zero.

For an object to be stable, its centre of mass must be

low down and it must have a large base.

Moment of a force = force × perpendicular distance

from pivot to force

When an object is in equilibrium: total clockwise

moment = total anticlockwise moment

Make sure that you can describe an experiment to

determine the position of the centre of mass of a
plane lamina.
