In the first image one can observe that the island situated in the Mediteraneean Sea has in its

natural
state a small suraface dedicated to beach actvities. Only a small corner of the west shore of the
island was suitable for entering the sea. No touristic facilities were developed,. The West side and
the east side of the island are naturally covered with specific vegetation (palm trees). This specifcic

Two main concentric areas of bungalows were builded near the two palm trees areas. They toursits
accomodated in the bungalows are served by a restaurant situated in the north of the island. Many

Mastering at least a foreign language has become a necessity at both individual and societal level.
European Commission included the communication in a foreign language in the basic competencies
set that an adult should master. Many initiatives were developed in other to increase the European
population’s level of communication in a foreign language.

But when should we start to learn a new language? A strong tendency manifested today is to
immerse the youngest children, the toddlers, into the learning process of a foreign language, in
parallel with the learning of the mother language. The majority of kindergartens have elective classes
of foreign language. In Romania, the study of the foreign language is compulsory starting with the
primary school. The learning of the second foreign language is designated to start in the secondary
school.

There are a lot of advantages of starting the study of the new languages during the primary schools:

- The children’s brain is very plastic and open to encryption of new information and to
developing new neural paths and connections
- Outside school, the children are immersed in the foreign language communication virtual
environments having the opportunities to learn the new language through the
communicative model by listening to native speakers influencers, participating in online
game platforms, communicating with pears on different topics. The study of the language in
school enhances the correct learning of the grammar structures of the new language.
- The specific of the pupilsțs mind from primary school, being the concrete actions rather the
abstract conceptualization, the teachers should use the games, the song, the stories when
teaching a foreign language.
In my opinion there are no many disadvantages of learning a foreign language in the primary
school. One evident disadvantage is related to the teachers’ ability to approach the young
learners by using suitable didactical strategies. A theoretical, deductive approach will not be
functioning against the developmental specific of the primary school children.

I sustain the start of learning new language in the primary school using mainly the communicative
model of teaching. Speaking a foreign language is the passport to a better life!.
