My conversation with Liecel Kimberly Ocampo was smooth and fun, we dropped jokes with each other,
we laughed and talked about what happened from the previous days of her life. As we continue our
conversation I notice that Kim is a talkative person, she loves to share everything in her head and I find it
cool because for someone like me who barely talk to stranger, makes me feel comfortable and to be
honest I feel like we know each other for a long time. We shared to each other the most embarrassed
moment of our life, she told me that when she was waiting for her singing audition at ABS- CBN her and
her friends decided to go to Mc Donalds and eat lunch, to cut the long story short she went to the
bathroom, and the bathroom there was open wide. So she immediately goes inside but as she gets
inside, there was a man who adjusting his pants, Kim shortly shocked and stay-put in a secs try to
process what just happened there. As soon as she gets back to her conscience she immediately ran away
from the bathroom and find her friend. I laughed after I heard that story from her because that is really
embarrassing. She also shared to me her experiences from auditioning to the singing contest. She said
that starting your career as a singer here in the Philippines is difficult, those mall auditions, Star haunt,
and such are just screenings, if you are ordinary people you can’t be chosen by the judges. She said to
me that before you get pass to the screening, you have to get your own manager, a manager that will
manage once you get inside the show. Even if you don’t have manager you can still join but you must
find a talent agency. I asked Kim how she will get one of those, she answered me that all who dreams to
be an artist have to pay to get a manager or talent agency, Kim was able to join in TnT (Tawag ng
Tanghalan) on It’s Showtime because she paid for a talent manager, it cost her 12,000 pesos just get a
chance to show her singing talent in front of all the people who watch the show. She also joined to a
private singing audition happened near in Robinsons Galleria Ortigas, two of the judges there were Katy
Perry and Taylor Swift. When she step-up to the stage she was stars-truck. She tried to take a selfie with
them but the staff of the event did not allow her because it was a private event, but she did get an
autograph and she was happy with that.

I am going to describe Kim; I would say she is joyful I feel the happiness when I talk to her. It
feels like she is always happy, but I know Kim have also problems, maybe she is just hiding it with a
smile. She is brave, joining to those kind of auditions? Showing her talent in front of famous people?
That’s really different level of braveness for me. She is friendly I know I am not the only one who notice
this but the way she approached when I don’t know what to do on my first day, my nervous and anxiety
were gone because finally there is someone who I can ask. She is talkative, like I said it is cool for me
because having that kind of person beside you, saves you from boringness, saves you from overthinking.
I hope Kim and I will have a good friendship as we go along to our journey of being
journalist/photographer/film editor and director.
