The CEFR is a base for everyone.

It describes what language learners have to learn
to do in order to use a language for
communication and what knowledge and skills
they have to develop so as to be able to act
effectively.

The focus of the CEFR is communication.

CEFR levels provide an indication of performance


and ability to function in communicative
contexts in a foreign language.

Language learners and teachers are more
independent.

It is up to the teacher and learner to plot a course for


language development. The CEFR does not tell them
what to do or how to do it.

CEFR helps in providing detailed description of
teaching, learning and also assessing English as a
language.

It also defines the way in which the learners can


compare themselves based on set of competencies
and the way they can carry out the communicative
task.
