Seasonings are ingredients you add to a food to improve it’s flavor.

Chefs season their foods to improve with enhancing natural taste and to improve
with balancing tastes.

1. Salt
2. Pepper
3. Sugar and light-flavored sweeteners
4. Acids

It’s chemical name is Sodium Chloride.

Black pepper and White pepper are two types of pepper used in small amounts
as seasonings.

Lemon and Wine are two examples of an acid type of seasonings.

Pasta and Bacon are two examples of high-sodium foods.


Seasoning improves the food’s unique flavor without changing it significantly.
While flavoring, you change the food’s original flavor as you add other flavors.

Layering flavors is the process of adding flavor on top of other flavors to create a
new pleasing combination of flavors.

when salt is added, the salt dials down the taste of bitter in the vegetables

Table salt fine even grains, refined to remove other minerals

Sea salt Made by evaporating seawater, minerals gives it a slight color

Kosher salt Coarse or fine grain styles, flakier than table salt. Addictive-
