Event Description

Youth Agrinity (Agriculture Sustainability) Festival is a competition series with Webinar and
talk shows. The theme is Youth’s Action with Circular Agrifood, in this series will be an essay
competition, infographic competition and video competition and will be covered with talk
shows in launching and closing. This festival aimed to raise Indonesian youth enthusiasm and
interest in sustainable agriculture particularly in Circular Agrifood concepts with a target of
400+ national participants.

By 2050, the global population will have grown to around 9.5 billion people. Food productivity
also will rise. On the other side we have problems and challenges in the agricultural sector,
there is climate change and not a sustainable system. We need a solution with a good system.
Have lower emission and lower cost. Circular agrifood is an agricultural system that uses
resources in a circular manner on the same land for production processes and is integrated with
livestock and energy, so there is no such a thing called waste.

In Indonesia, this system is called closed looping agriculture. Closed Loop Agriculture is being
implemented (structural-wise) but maybe very limited or scattered, especially the youth and
the young farmers' generation. So, therefore demonstrative showcasing of these agri practices
must be started. It is important to spread circular agrifood for the sake of an environmentally
friendly and sustainable agricultural system and can help Indonesia to achieve the SDGs in
2030, especially SDGs Number 2 “Zero hunger”, number 12 “Responsible consumptions and
production” and 13 “Climate action”.

“Circular Agrifood as a New Notion for Agriculture in Indonesia”
Sustainable agriculture food systems is an action to build a better world because with this we
need to give a higher value to these foods so that less food will be wasted, which does not
directly encourage consumers to buy sustainable products. If the food waste is wasted it will
be used again to improve the soil, fertilize the soil, animal feed, etc. So we need to choose
based on how the main product and by-product can be taken or used in this system. In addition
the role of livestock in a circular food system depends on a variety of factors (e.g.
quality/quantity of grass and by-products, types of animals raised), and although they may play
an important role in soil regeneration, one of which remains clear - our consumption of animal
protein must be reduced. significantly. Therefore, the purpose of writing this essay is to develop
creative ideas or ideas according to the provisions of a scientific mindset and refer to the latest
reliable information, problem solving in agrifood circulars in Indonesia.
