MY PLAN A: ______RCMP ___________________________

My Plan A: Some of the things that I enjoy would be playing video games with
Consider: my friends and also playing sports with them, like soccer,
❏ What do you enjoy? badminton, and frisbee
❏ What sort of lifestyle do you
want? The kind of lifestyle I would want be the same as it is right now
❏ What are you good at? because right now everything is perfect, I wake up and go to
school which I honestly like, and then I come home and spend
some time with my mom and also play with video games my
friends and probably play soccer in the afternoon and then when
my dad comes home just spend time with him and sleep, which
honesty some people might think it’s boring but for me it’s perfect!

Some things that i am good at would be playing sports, making

people feel comfortable by telling them some jokes and trying to
connect with them and the other thing I am good at would be Uno.

Career Info that I have - The upsides of becoming an RCMP officer is that you get to
discovered… learn new things that you never knew before and you also
Consider: get a chance to help the people around you. The main
❏ Upsides/downsides of job downside of the job is that when you complete your six
❏ Job duties/ responsibilities month training, they ask you where you would like to be
❏ Salary range moved to but if that area is already full then they can move
you anywhere else. Like let’s say if I were to complete the
❏ Future outlook
training then I would write my two places where I would like
❏ Lifestyle factors to be moved to, but if they don’t have space in BC but they
❏ Advancement opportunities need police officers down in Ontario, then they would have
to move me there
- The thing is that there are so many jobs/duties you can
have when joining the RCMP, like if you were to be in the
call center as a dispatcher where whenever someone were
to call 911 then you would pick up and talk to the caller and
ask them questions like do you need an Ambulance or
police, and the duties of that would be to get as much as
information as possible from the caller. By information I
mean like where they are right now, if someone they know
is hurt or how bad they are hurt, in some cases the
dispatcher would also have to tell the person how to do
CPR or some other medical procedures that could save the
life of someone while the ambulance or the police is on the
way.
- The salary when you enter the police force would be
$63,210 and after six months of service then it would
increase to $89,109 and after two years it will be $96,079
and after three years it will be $102,418
- Some of the lifestyle factors could be that in the future my
lifestyle would completely change, by change I mean in the
future I would have to be more responsible of the decisions
I make because they won’t be for myself anymore and they
might be for the people around me, also that in the future I
would be able to be more physically active compared to
now.
- For advancement opportunities it could be that I could be
ranked up from a constable to a head constable and even
an inspector and on and on

Three employability skills I 1. The main skills that I would need to get into the police force
possess that will support my plan: would be that I would have to get physically fit. The reason I said
the was because to get into the RCMP I would have to go through
Consider: a training procedure that would determine whether the candidate
❏ Soft and hard Skills required can move on or not. In the training they would make you run every
for position day and you would have to lift heavy weights and complete an
❏ Personal attributes obstacle course and if you don’t make it within the limit then there’s
a lower chance of you making it in.

2. The other skill I would have to work on is being patience, the

reason I said that was because I would have to apply to the main
office and would have to wait for a long time which would be
around 3 weeks to 3 months!

3. The other skill I would have to learn is to do good under

pressure. I say that because whenever I’m under pressure I tend to
mess up things, an example would be if I were to get four
assignments on the same day and if they were due the next week,
then there would be a high chance of me messing up and not
getting the mark I wanted. Which I cannot afford to do during my
training time because if I were to make a simple mistake then that
mistake would reduce the chance of my getting selected out of
hundreds of people.

Education needed to pursue my There aren't really any requirement to join the RCMP besides I
plan: need to get a minimum of 70% in English 12, need to be 18 years
old and need a class 5 driver's license. But my future plan after
Consider: high school is to take two months off and just relax and then join a
❏ Courses/training/ certificates collage/university and get a diploma in Law studies or Criminology
needed and after two years when I get my diploma I that’s when I would
❏ Post-secondary requirements decide if I want to get a degree or start applying to the rcmp.
MY BACKUP CAREER PLAN_____ (Municipal police) Abbotsford Police_______________

My Plan B: Some of the things that I enjoy would be playing video games with

❏ Job duties/responsibilities Like let’s say that it’s Christmas day and you wake up and
❏ Salary range think that how you’re going to enjoy your day with your family
and where you can go, but then you get a call from the police

department saying that they need you, and you can’t really

- For my second plan which is joining the abbotsford police,
and the salary for that would be the following

• when you get hired you would make $32.91 per hour which
is around $68,411 annualy
• Fourth year constable--$37.97/hr and $78,970 annual
• Third year consatble--$40.50/hr and $84,235 annual
• Second year consable--$45.56/hr and $94,765 annual
• First year constable--$50.62/hr and $105,294 annual
Plus you can also make more while working overtime
