Global Talent Visa program

The Distinguished Talent Visa has changed its name to Global Talent Visa on 27 February 2021.
Global talent visa aims to attract highly skilled and talented individuals from across the globe in
specific industries to settle permanently in Australia. The Australian government is investing
AUD 550 million in the next four years to attract talented individuals who achieved
international recognition in their careers, to live and work permanently in Australia. Processing
time frames will be from one week to two months. As a result, the Department of Home Affairs
plans have tripled its intake to 15,000 for the 2020/2021 fiscal year.

2. Global Talent Employers Sponsored (GTES)

Who can be eligible for a Global Talent Visa?

If you are highly qualified /experienced and exceptionally talented individual, interested in
living and working in Australia as permanent residents then you are the right fit for this
program. You can be overseas or in Australia to be eligible for the Global Talent Visa program.
You need to follow a process of submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). 
 
In particular, those who can demonstrate the relevant skills in targeted sectors.
 Resources
 Agri-food and AgTech
 Energy
 Health Industries
 Defence, Advanced Manufacturing and Space
 Circular Economy
 DigiTech
 Infrastructure and Tourism
 Financial Services and FinTech
 Education

Besides working in one of the target sectors mentioned above, you need to prove recognition
internationally or nationally with evidence of your achievements – it may include roles,
publications and professional awards ,patents and many more which differ based on your
profession. Individuals also need to demonstrate how their role would benefit Australia and
have an Australian individual in the same field, or an organisation nominate them. You also
need to prove that your current or potential income can be close to AUD153,600 per year. 
Benefi ts of Global Talent Visa

 Straight away Australian Permanent residency
 No Skill assessment requirement or ANZSCO skill matching is required.
 The people who can apply can come from diverse fields and can show many evidences
to prove their contention.
 Can be up to 55 years or older
 can be a recent PhD graduate in one of the key target sectors
 No requirement of Job offer or Sponsor (Can work for any employer)
 Can access Medicare and other government benefits
 Need to show Functional English requirement (4.5 on the IELTS)
 Can live and work anywhere in Australia

Visa process

Here are some quick Steps of the Global Talent Visa program (GTIP)
1. Submit an Expression of Interest (GTIP) and wait for a unique identifier number (UIN);
2. Secure a nominator and complete required Forms; and
3. Submit a visa application for an 858 Subclass

Processing timelines 

Processing times may vary from each stream, but the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) has
declared that applications under GTIP will be prioritized. One of the significant advantages of
GTIP is its high-speed processing. After submitting an EOI to GTIP, it can take a week to 3
months to receive a UIN.

 Industry body.
 The Australian Computer Science Society (ACS) will nominate individual with a
technology focus who do not have a nominator.
