ZVISHAVANE TOWN
COUNCIL SITE VISIT
INTRODUCTION
Zvishavane Town Council is in search for a contractor to construct a 2.5km double seal
pavement in parts of their town. During the visit we were shown the parts of the town
were the pavements are to be constructed; Izayi Park road (1km), Makwasha road
(0.5km), and Eastlea road (1km). Below is a brief report of what was observed and what
is expected.

IZAYI PARK ROAD

 The pavement will be a double seal consisting of 19mm and 7mm stone
aggregates.
 The pavement will be 1km long and 7m wide.
 Insitu material will be used for subgrade formation.
 There pavement will have one base 150mm thick on top of the subgrade.
 Some parts will have lined drains at entries and exits.
 Certain points will have culverts.
 Gravel pits are 6km from the Izayi Park road.

MAKWASHA ROAD

 The pavement will be 5m wide and 0.5km long


 The pavement will be a double seal consisting of 19mm and 7mm stone
aggregates
 Certain points will have culverts
 Borrow material will be used to form the subgrade
 The pavement will have one 150mm base.
 Gravel pits are 6km from the Makwasha road.

EASTLEA ROAD

 The pavement will be a double seal consisting of 19mm and 7mm stone
aggregates.
 The pavement will be 1km long and 6m wide.
 Certain points to have culverts.
 Existing bell mouth to be maintained as is.
 In situ material to be used as subgrade. Parts of this section have already been
prepared by previous contractor.
 Scarify sand at the last section.
 The pavement will have one base.
 Gravel pits are 7km from the Eastlea road.

EXTRA DETAILS

 Gravel pits are located 5km away from the town of Zvishavane.
 Water will be obtained from the hydrants in town.
 Water and gravel is free.
 The project is expected to run for 10 weeks.
 Bid will be done in US dollars and will be converted to RTGS at prevailing rates.
 BOQ and programme of works are expected on Monday 25/10/2021.
