Prognosis overview

ACI and Integrated Research have partnered to provide a single monitoring solution which can be deployed
across wholesale, retail and fraud prevention payment solutions. ACI Payment Service Management
(PSM) powered by Prognosis fulfills the requirement for a single monitoring application that supports all
ACI payment systems.

Single User Interface

PSM was designed with a common architecture across multiple platforms, applications and systems for a
true enterprise wide systems management solution. The ability to deploy PSM on UNIX, Windows NonStop
and Linux platforms and manage all these platforms and their applications from a single display
substantially reduces training costs and personnel resources. Users can view information pertaining to a
business function within a single window from both the Prognosis GUI client as well as through a web
browser. This view can include multiple application servers across data centers, and monitor the application
infrastructure as well as the applications themselves.

Real Time Management

PSM provides stakeholders with immediate access to real-time performance metrics for key application and
infrastructure components. Top ‘N’ filtering quickly isolates the information you need, allowing you to
pinpoint and resolve issues that deviate from typical behavior. The software includes a wide range of pre-
configured displays, threshold alerts and reports, eliminating the need for a complex set up process. PSM
makes use of existing APIs and database structures to minimize configuration by leveraging the
configuration already in place. Users can customize their displays to view only the information they require
quickly and easily and can set the interval of data refresh to as fast as 1 second to capture in-depth
performance information.

Historical Replay
The PSM graphical user interface allows users to replay or fast forward their displays to view historical data
or pin-point an anomaly. PSM can also be configured to store its monitoring metrics in a database to be
replayed at a later time. This capability is also leveraged by the PSM reports which can summarize
recorded data into hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly “snap shots” to be referenced by reports or
exported for other means.

Multi-server Views
PSM allows users to view multiple servers within a single window, giving them an enterprise wide view into
performance, availability and problem analysis. Application groups can be easily created to enable
personnel to watch all systems within a specific application and function, such as web servers, in order to
understand comparative performance between and determine out of bounds conditions and anomalies.

Enhanced Alerting and Problem Notification

PSM threshold alerts allow for the generation of alerts on virtually any condition within Postilion or
infrastructure monitored by Prognosis. With access to thousands of application, system, and subsystem
metrics, and the ability to check on simple or complex conditions on any interval, problems can be detected
within seconds rather than minutes. Integrated dispatching facilities deliver notification to recipients based
on user-defined personnel scheduling and escalation profiles. Advanced features include multi-level
escalation, timeouts and 24x7 scheduling. Once triggered, alerts can notify personnel via email, pager or
mobile/cellular phone. Built-in escalation capabilities are easily tailored to suit any support organization.
Furthermore, PSM continually escalates messages until problems are resolved.
Root Cause Analysis
PSM provides unprecedented visibility of your enterprise in both real-time and through historical data
capture. Since users are not restricted to viewing what has been pre-configured and collected, the
information needed to answer the complex and critical questions can usually be obtained quickly and easily
through a single user interface. Sophisticated filtering and data collection techniques allow users to view
the specific data needed to rapidly and efficiently determine the root cause of a problem. All information
available in real-time can be collected and made available for replay. This includes server performance
and application metrics, logs, network statistics, middleware and more. Drill-downs allow personnel to go
quickly from the application view to a specific process, server or file to facilitate problem resolution. Once
identified, corrective action can be immediately taken and thresholds and alarms can be created to prevent
the problem from reoccurring in the future.

Cost Effective Management

PSM is comprehensive, yet easy to install and to use. Because of its highly efficient design and ability to
group and manage multiple entities and servers and to enable management by exception, personnel can
easily support more servers than with traditional tools. With PSM, MTTR times are drastically reduced,
reporting is automatic and problems can be self correcting, freeing up valuable cycles for staff to dedicate
to other high priority tasks. PSM easily scales with your environment, without requiring reconfiguration and
extensive modification, making it ideally suited to large environments. Unlike other system management
solutions, it does not require a dedicated staff to continually maintain its operation. Large deployments can
easily be managed by one person or less.

Server Consolidation and Balancing

PSM provides comprehensive reporting that highlight whether applications can be aggregated onto fewer
LPARs or servers to maximize resources. These reports enable capital expenditures to be deferred by
exposing additional server capacity, thus deferring the need for new hardware investments.
