"You are using a newer version of Skyrim than this version of SKSE64
supports. If this version just came out, please be patient while we update
our code."

I patched with the reqtificator fine, and installed the 'current SE build 2.0.20
(runtime 1.5.97)' version of script extender, yet still I can't get past this error
message.

Not to hijack the thread, but can anyone please assist me here?

unless you previously forced your Skyrim install to not update

automatically, you need "Preliminary AE build 2.1.4 (runtime 1.6.342)"

If your Skyrim version (check the build number in the in-game menu)
isn't exactly 1.5.97 then you need to run this program, and also set Steam
to "Do not update this game automatically":

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618

and then install SKSE v2.0.20.

I had to do this because the SSE Bug fixes mod (which i consider
essential due to the stack selling bug) is still not compatible with
anything above 1.5.97. That means AE and the automatic update they
released for SE will break it.

Guess who just spent the past twenty minutes combing through his
installation to figure out the mismatch between my SKSE and the newly
downloaded AE update just to eventually remember that I installed the
Data/Scripts folder in MO2 instead of my actual SE/Data directory just to
keep it pris-fucking-tine?

Still can't wait to get back to Requiem. It's been too long.
