Asking or giving opinion

Ketika kita ingin mencoba atau penasaran mengenai sesuatu seperti orang,
makanan, aktivitas, film dan lain-lain, maka kita akan bertanya kepada teman
ataupun seseorang yang mengetahui tentang hal tersebut.

Contohnya:

Jena: Clara, do you know Japanese food?

Clara: Yes, my family and I like eating Japanese food.
Jena: What do you think about Japanese food?
Clara: I think it has unique taste. It served different from western food.
Jena: Do you think it is delicious?
Clara: Yes. Especially Ramen and sushi.

Sama halnya dalam bahasa Indonesia, kita bisa menggunakan beberapa frasa jika
kita setuju atau kurang setuju dengan opini seseorang. Akan lebih baik jika kita
bisa memberi alasan kenapa kita setuju ataupun tidak setuju dengan hal
tersebut.

Contohnya:

Rika: In my opinion, travelling alone is the best.

Jimi: Yes. I think so too. We can do anything we want.
Tom: I don't agree with you. We still need someone’s advice when we
are travelling. At least we have someone to talk with.

In my opinion.....
I think.....

According to me.....
I strongly believe that.....
As far as I am concerned.....
From my point of view.....
As I understand.....

I reckon.....

Agreeing with an Opinion
Of course.
This is absolutely right.
I agree with this opinion.
I couldn't agree more.
I agree with what you are saying.
I agree, I never thought of that.
Neither do I.
That's a good point.
I think so too.
Disagreeing with an opinion
I am sorry, I don't agree with you.
I am not sure I agree with you.
I don't agree with you.
I am afraid I have to disagree with you.
I do not believe that.
By this I mean.....
I disagree with you.
I think you are wrong.
That's not the same thing at all.
It is not justified to say so.
I am not convinced that.....
I can't say I agree with this, and here's why.....
Grammar – Present Simple
Present Simple digunakan untuk menjelaskan kegiatan sehari-hari, hobi,
profesi dan fakta. Dalam present simple kita membutuhkan subject, verb 1 dan
object. Jika perlu kita tambahkan complement.

Contohnya:

I go to school at weekdays.
She is a scientist.
Elephants are big.
Kalimat di atas adalah contoh kalimat positif. Tapi ada juga kalimat negatif dan
pertanyaan dalam simple present. Contohnya:

He doesn’t go to school at weekdays. Do you live in Bandung?

You are not a teacher. What’s your job?
Penguins can’t fly. Does cat can swim?

 Note: untuk subjek He, She, It, perlu ditambah s/es diakhiran verbnya.
Watch – watches, study – studies, go – goes, do –does, listen – listens.
Untuk bentuk kalimat negatif dan pertanyaan, tambahkan auxiliary verb
Do/Does atau Don’t/doesn’t.
