Water Cycle in a Bag:

What you need


1. a ziplock plastic bag (I used 2 Gallon bag)

2. color markers (I used Sharpie Permanent Markers. You can use any
non-erasable markers, including washable.)
3. water

4. blue food coloring (optional)

5. Strong tape

Set Up Your Water Cycle:


1. Draw Key parts of the Water Cycle on your bag:
Sea or a lake Precipitation
Evaporation Ground
Condensation Trees
Clouds Sun
2. Add blue food coloring into the water to represent ocean or lake water.
3. Pour the water into a ziplock bag and zip it closed.
4. Tape the bag zipper-up on the window using strong tape.

Observe
5. Draw what your bag looks like in your lab notebook
6. Check your bag after 15 minutes to see if you have noticed any changes
7. Observe your bag twice everyday
a. when you come to class and
b. around lunchtime
8. Record your observations in you lab notebook
