Environmental Advocacy Club

*Meeting called to order at 12:34 PM on Friday January 14, 2022

1. Holiday trees from before break


a. Link sent out on Remind if anybody wants a tree
b. If nobody wants them, they will be planted and brought back each year for
the same Warm and Fuzzy event

2. H2O for Life


a. Our club is connected with an organization that partners with other
organizations across the globe.
b. We will fundraise soon to help the building of water access for people in
underdeveloped countries
c. The organization is reputable and sources the projects locally so
underprivileged people are able to purchase replacement parts easily
down the line. It also reduces transportation costs.

3. Garden Joy
a. Club idea is to set up a booth at the farmers market and teach people
about composting. A way to give back to the soil and community to grow
more food.
b. In the process of being set up and approved.

4. Danika Brar’s Project Idea


a. Non profit organization
b. Making paper (made of recycled paper), soaps, masks (made of used
clothes)
c. All resources sourced sustainably and recycled
d. Partnering with our club, Ms. Van Vuren, and Señora McPherson
e. We will donate clothes from the clothes drive in March to this project

5. Environmental Literacy Summit


a. At Durham Ferry in Manteca
b. Organized by SJCOE in March in person
c. Opportunity to host a booth there.
d. More info coming soon.
6. Announcement: Garden Joy needs help for a service project this weekend on
Saturday, Jan 15 from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. The Ripon Community Garden is also
asking for help this week for their own service project.
