Chasing Madoff Movie Essay

The movie is based on the true to life story of Bernie Madoff who happens to run the
largest Ponzi scheme in American History amounting to around $64 billion. He started his Penny
Stock Brokerage company in the early 1960’s at Wall Street. It grew as a large investment
company. The investment was exposed by a financial analyst named Harry Markopolos,
claiming that it was mathematically and legally impossible for Madoffs company to gain the
amount they advertise to deliver on their investors. At the end Madoff pleaded guilty with the
charges of security frauds and was sentence to 150 years in prison. He died earlier this year due
to Chronic Kidney disease.
