Summary of UPM Data Report On Previous HEPA & Ultra Pm2.5
Summary of UPM Data Report On Previous HEPA & Ultra Pm2.5
Rationale
CUCKOO International (MAL) Sdn Bhd has requested Faculty of
Environmental Studies, UPM to conduct the test of air filter
performance.
Project Objective
1. To identify the effectiveness of the filtration system.
2. To establish the standard for the HEPA filtration efficiency.
3. To identify the efficiency of the air purifier’s filtration system.
Type/Methodology of Test Conducted
No Methodology Conducted Remarks
1. Flow and Yes To determine the efficiency of air
concentration test filter through
the volume of air filtered.
2. Gravimetric Test No* To identify the
effectiveness in the filtering of
the fine particulate by applying
the weight mass approach.
3. Filter Effectiveness Yes In-Room Particulate Matter Air
Test Filtration Device
assessment.
4. Filter Capture Yes The test of efficiency of air filter
Efficiency Test in capturing the
same size and known fine
particles.
*The Gravimetric Test was not conducted due to destructive method and there is
no extra filter to be used in the test prior to destructive method.
Results
No Methodology Result
1. Flow and
Fan Speed 1 – 93.1%
concentration test
Fan Speed 3 – 92.4% N/A
Turbo Mode – 88.8%
*There is no explanation in the report on why the Filter Capture Efficiency Test is
specifically conduct at level 1 & 3 only.
Discussion & Conclusion
Discussion
At fan speed 1; 4 in 1 HEPA is 0.15% better than Ultra PM2.5
At fan speed 3; Ultra PM2.5 is 0.15% better than 4 in 1 HEPA
Conclusion
Both air filters which are HEPA Filter and Ultra-Fine Dust Filter
can effectively filter about 99.77 to 99.95 % of dust in the air.
