1. Call the Master 

2. Inform the Engine Room 

3. Control switched to Engine Room 

4. Emergency order transmission system with engine room tested 

5. Prepare the necessary signalling equipment ( aldis lamp/ whistle)

6. Check position of vessels in vicinity 

7. Shift from automatic to manual steering 

8. Check “not under command “ lights/shapes are ready 

9. Continuos watch on channel 16 VHF 

10. Note time of failure 

11. Note vessel’s position 

12. Check cause of failure 

13 Check if spares required 

14. Check if shore service engineer required 

15. Enter facts in deck log book 

16. Inform to he Company 
