As what as Tyler said, “The teacher can provide an educational experience through setting up
an environment and structuring the situation so as to stimulate the desired type of reaction.” It simply
tells us that the educational experiences are must be based on the student’s behavior, and not of the
teacher.

Educational objectives are the starting point or the critical criteria for guiding all the activities
of the curriculum maker. By which materials are selected, content is outline, instructional procedures
are developed and tests and examinations are prepared. That’s why, these are considered as the most
important factor to consider to developed any type of curriculum and instruction. As I read Tyler’s
Rationale on Curriculum, there are many different views as to where objectives can be obtained. A
Progressive emphasizes the importance of studying the child's interests, problems encountered and
purposes within the mind can provide a source for selecting objectives. An Educational Philosopher
stance is that educational philosophy is a source for selecting objectives. An Essentialist views
objectives as essentially the basic learnings selected from the vast cultural heritage of the past.
Socialists believe that an analysis of contemporary society is a source for selecting objectives. Tyler’s
stance is that "no single source of information is adequate to provide a basis for wise and
comprehensive decisions about the objectives of the school". In his rationale, I found it exhaustive,
for he considered all elements or aspects to where objectives can be obtained. He includes all the
possibilities how objectives can be derived. Each source was given consideration in planning any
comprehensive curriculum program. And it also continues to be the foundation for many aspects of
curriculum design and evaluation. For me, I think the primary sources of educational objectives are
the students/learners who have been considered as the center of implementing the curriculum, their
interest must be identified so that they can serve as the focus of educational attention.
The society, in where educational objectives are closely related to contemporary life outside
the school. To the subject specialist who prepared the courses of study commonly used in typical
schools and colleges. From the educational philosophy of the school, about its purpose. Psychology
of Learning/ Learning Theory that distinguished goals at different age levels, changes in human
beings that result from a learning process, and finds that the most learning experiences produce
multiple outcomes. As a subject specialist who have been considered as the writer of the curriculum,
I need to have a useful set of criteria for selecting content, for suggesting learning activities, for the
kind of teaching procedures to follow, and to carry on all the further steps of curriculum planning for
I have carried the critical criteria in curriculum-making.
