Assignment 1: HUMAN COMPUTER INTEFACE

1. a) Explain Human Computer interaction. (5mrks)

• Human Computer Interaction, is basically the mass communication of

the relationship between a computer and the user. Consist of a user,
computer and then chain of interaction that deals with the ways they
work together. We can also classify the ways they work together as
the feedback.

• In HCI, the User is usually an individual or a group of individuals

operating a computer in order to successfully complete a task.

• During such process there is a line of communication that is being

taking place and that is known as interaction. In order to achieve a
usable system, one needs to apply what he/she knows about humans
and computers and survey throughout the design process.

c) State three goals of human computer interaction to business users and to

development organizations. (3mrks)

Three goals of Human Computer Interface are:

• Understanding the factors that determine how people use

technology

• Developing tools and techniques to enable building suitable

systems

• Achieving efficient, effective and safe interaction

d) List four (4) components of HCI. (2mrks)

Four Components of HCI are:

• The User

• Task

• Tool / Interface

• The Context
