Cigarette consumption is one of the health problems

that has the main risk of various non-communicable

diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke, cancer,
chronic lung disease and diabetes mellitus and is the
main cause of death in the world, including in our
country Indonesia.
The Minister of Health stated that data from the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (2006, 2009) stated that
the prevalence of adolescent smokers who attended school between the ages of 13-15 years had
doubled during the last 3 years, namely 2006–2009. Meanwhile, data from the Global Adult Tobacco
Survey (GATS) 2011 showed a very high prevalence of smokers aged 15 years and over, including male
smokers (67.4%) and female smokers (2.7%). Furthermore, most adults (78.4%) are exposed to cigarette
smoke in their homes

Citing the GATS report (2011), kretek is the most popular tobacco product in Indonesia. To buy kretek
cigarettes, the average smoker spends Rp. 198,761 per month. As many as 79.8% of smokers stated that
they bought cigarettes from kiosks or stalls. The most popular cigarette brands in Indonesia include
Gudang Garam, Djarum, Sampoerna, Dji Sam Soe and Tali Jagad.

Many people are aware of the dangers of smoking but because of the association and lifestyle it is
difficult to stop it. Therefore, there is a need for media to help stop smoking or switch, such as nicotine
replacement therapy and alternative tobacco products. A comprehensive or holistic approach to
addressing smoking problems needs to be taken.
