Gas Pipeline at Section-III, Phase-II in Mehsana- Bathinda Pipeline project. ‘SCOPE: ‘The scope of work covers the minimum requirements to be complied during the installation of Rock Shield in the trench of Rocky area during lowering or prior to post padding for Laying & Construction of Steel Gas Pipeline at Section-III, Phase-II in Mehsana- Bathinda Pipeline project. He will have sufficient authority and Organizational freedom to achieve ‘Quality Objectives’ at ProcuremenSite Offices and that the Project Schedule shall not compromise quality. QA/QC Team shall assist him for carrying out surveillance on various activities during execution of Project and ensure implementation of Quality Management System in order to meet QA/QC requirement for the Project and cross check on QA/QC activities carried out by Quality Inspectors. METHODOLOGY: JSIW shall install the Rock shield (manufacturer Raychem RPG Limited / Tuflex or Equivalent ). In addition to compacted padding Shall be atleast 150 mm of sand /soft soil padding around the pipes in Rocky area. Padding Materials that are approved byclient shall be graded soil/sand containing no gravel .rock or lumps of hard soil suitable sand Approved by Engineer-Incharge shall be used for padding Rock shield shall be of high density extruded polyethylene mesh with following properties: Thickness - 6 mm (minimum) Compressive Strength - 250 PSI Impact Resistance 100 in-Ib. Material HDPE. Application Method Unroll the mesh parallel to the already lowered pipe to be protected. Cut the mesh into pieces of more than 6" of the circumference of the pipe. Wrap the pipe with the mesh overlapping the previously installed mesh by around 6” (min) Fix the mesh with plastic bands/strapping polypropylene tapes.Alternatevly self adhesive polypropylene tapes may be used. Before Procurement submit the Material Sample along with MTC to get approved by client. + Rock shield net can be installed along the pipe or around the pipe as per the diagrams below, and can be joined using a gas torch by pressing the faces together, or can be secured by means of strapping tapes or similar.
