It is no doubt that online shopping is a delightful experience to many
customers. But we have all had that one online purchase which has made us paranoid about shopping online. It is difficult to purchase a product just based on the description provided. Relying solely on website images doesn’t seem right and makes us contemplate on whether or not to buy the product. So, to help Indian users shop online with ease Amit Bagaria, Kunal Suri, and Saurabh Vashishtha came up with Simsim. The app was built keeping in mind the Indian consumer behaviour which is based on trust. It attempts to replicate the offline retail experience in the digital world by connecting local businesses, influencers and customers. On Simsim, trusted influencers make video reviews of products by various small businesses and post them for others to see. Through this the customers can mentally picture the items clearly. This makes it easier for the customers to trust the product. Simsim is a blessing to the small business owners as well! Local businesses have a tough time blowing up their business, Simsim is a platform which helps market their products efficiently. It encourages people to buy from local vendors and helps them grow. YouTube, with an aim to further help people buy products, has acquired Simsim. The Gurgaon based startup had raised $16 million in seven months of its existence. The funding rounds happened in quick succession over the past few months and were led by Accel Partners, Shunwei Capital, and Good Capital.
