1. How do you promote and teach self-care to your prospective students as future educator. Please
provide detailed instances.

I will impart the importance of self-care to my students by setting myself as a good example for them. I
will show them what is the essence of taking care of one’s self. If possible, I will demonstrate the proper
ways of means of how to perform some self-care essentials. Furthermore, I will make integrate it in my
lesson that as a student, it is not enough that the minds are only addressed; it must be done holistically
by promoting personal care. I will ensure that self-care is not a tasks but a habit that they should
develop.

2. What are the similarities and differences between learners with Developmental Coordination
disorder and Stereotypic Movement Disorder?

The two disorders mentioned above affects the motor skills of the inflicted individuals. Both disorders
affect the learning potentials of the learner because of the lack or troubled motor skills they have
especially in speech. Learners with any of these disorders may have a low self-esteem or self-efficacy
because of their disability.
On the other hand, there are some differences between the two disorders. Development Coordination
Disorders can be characterized by defect in learner’s motor skills which are lower than the expected
motor skills they can perform at a specific age. They are usually checked by an evaluator by looking at
the strength and flexibility of their palpating muscle bulk, texture of joints and others. It can also be
checked by evaluating their fine and gross motor skills. On the other hand, stereotypic movement
disorder is characterized by uncontrolled or involuntary movement of an individual. Some of the times,
those with SMD also have an autism spectrum disorder.

3. How can a classroom be arranged to help learners with difficulty walking/moving?

As much as possible, learners with difficulty in walking or moving should be seated near the teacher for
support and guidance. If possible, his/her seat should be adjusted according to his/her height. It is
recommended as well that his/her space allows for free moving such as the front seats. The classroom
floors should not be prone for sliding accidents. Lastly, it is ideal that the class should give special
consideration in helping the learners in performing motor skills.
