This instruction manual includes

1. Turn on and off heading compass

Operation symbol description

The operating instructions use symbols to indicate the operating state:

Operation, general .

Turn on the heading compass

Turn on the power, and the heading compass starts to work. Once the heading compass
receives the heading information from the compass, its digital display displays the heading
accurately and automatically performs dial synchronization matching to make the dial correctly
indicate the ship's actual heading.

After the self-check is
completed, the sub-compass enters

dial slowly rotates clockwise,

2. Installation and initial operation of compass compass

2.1 Installation of compass

The heading sub-compass is connected to the gyro compass, please refer to the cable
connection diagram of the sub-compass:

The serial port is RS232 The serial port is RS 422

Line 1 : +24V Line 1 :+24V

Line 2 : -24V Line 2: 0V

Line3 : RX+ Line 3: RX-

Line 4: RX- Line 4:RX+

Line 5: Empty Line 5 : Empty

Line 6: Ground Line 6: Ground

Warning: The wiring must be


wired according to the instructions
or the logo on the cable, otherwise
it will cause damage to the
internal circuit.

Note:

1. The input data format is NMEA-0183

2. The input data level is RS422 or RS232

2.2 Setting and calibration of heading- compass.

Heading compasses receive NMEA sentences through RS-232 and RS-422 ports. When it
is put into operation for the first time, the format of the received sentence must be set.

①Rematch calibration of dial reading

Press the two buttons at the same


time, and the compass will be
automatically adjusted to match.
Start the dial to turn clockwise, at
a specific position and Stop at
000.0 position, then enter normal
working state, instruct the ship to
heading.
Note! After automatic
correction and matching, the
indication value of the dial should
be basically consistent with the
reading of the digital display.

②Enter the setting mode

Press and hold both buttons
simultaneously for more than 5
seconds until the display shows
the setting mode status

Let go of the two buttons and


press the down button again. With
each press of the display, the
display will show in order: (press
the up button to reverse the order)

The following three factories


have been verified before leaving
the factory, usually users do not
have to do it.

CHEC dial indicates check mode

[-//-] Dial calibration mode

SCAN dynamic scanning mode

QUIT to exit setting mode

③Call configuration mode to select NMEA sentences: HDT, HDM, HDG

In the setting mode state, use the


up or down button to make the
display

Press the two buttons at the same


time to enter the configuration
mode: the display shows: HDT,
HDM or HDG.

Use the up or down button to


make the display show the
applicable sentence name. Press
the two buttons at the same time to
confirm the selected sentence form
and return to the setting mode
selection state.

The heading- compass


automatically returns to normal
working state in about 5 seconds

④Call the dial indication verification mode (to check the misdiagnosis of the dial indication
at each course point)

down button to make the display

Press both buttons at the same


time to enter the dial indication
verification mode: the dial turns to
0 scale value, and the digital
display shows 000.0.

Pressing the up button or down


button will increase or decrease
the indicated value by 0.1 degree
in steps. Press and hold the up
button or down button, the
indication value will change with
the time of holding down. Release
the button and the displayed value
stops at a certain number, thereby
checking the error of the analog
indication. Press the button again
to gradually change the indication
value from 0.1 degrees.

Press the two buttons at the same


time to confirm the completion of
the pair displayed on the dial and
return to the setting selection state.
About 5 seconds after the zero
adjustment mode is terminated,
the minute compass automatically
returns to the normal working
state.

⑤Call the dial calibration (calibration) mode (used to clear the average value of the error of
each point of the dial, usually only once when the product is completed)

Press both buttons at the same


time to enter the dial calibration
mode: compare the current
heading value on the dial and
digital display.

Use the up button or down


button to adjust the dial so that the
indicated reading number is
consistent with the heading value
displayed by the number.

Note! Be sure to make the


indicated value of the dial be
consistent with the reading on the
digital display, otherwise the dial
indicates the wrong heading value.

Press both buttons at the same


time to confirm the calibration of
the dial and return to the setting
mode selection state. After about
5 seconds, the compass rose back
to normal working condition.

⑥Call scan mode

In the setting mode, use the up or
down button to make the display
show

Press both buttons at the same


time to enter the scan mode. After
the dial is turned to its specific
position, the digital display starts
from 000.0 degrees and rotates
back and forth in 5 degrees and 3
degrees to check if there is any
step out during the scanning
process. The scan node is 000.0
on the display.

If the scan results show that there


is a step out, it show

Press both buttons at the same


time to confirm the completion of
the scan mode and return to the
setting mode selection state. After
about 5 seconds, the compass rose
back to normal working condition.

3 Maintenance and repair

Regardless of whether it is a routine maintenance heading-compass or a repair heading-


compass, it should be replaced in its entirety if the display is confusing.
