NOTES

CONTEMPLATIONS is a single, sectional work to be played as


a whole. The numbered sections are not separate movements, but
interdependent phrases. Each is the rhetorical reflection of an
insistent, internal monologue

The squiggly hairpin symbols above some notes direct the player to
increase or decrease the audibility of the partials of the notated
fundamental, substantially altering the color of the notated
fundamental pitch while simultaneously flutter-tonguing lightly.

All accidentals remain in effect throughout each measure but do not


extend to other octaves, even within the measure.
