Superposition can be useful for the analysis of electrical networks with multiple independent sources.
Step 1: Switch off every independent source but one.
Note: a voltage source being switched off acts as a short circuit, a current source being switched off acts as an open circuit. Derive the unknown voltage(s) and/or current(s) as a response to the one source being switched on. Step 2: Switch off every independent source but the next one and again derive the unknown voltage(s) and/or current(s), now as a response to this next source being switched on. Step 3: Repeat until the responses to all individual independent sources were derived. Step 4: Per node and/or branch sum the unknown voltage(s) and/or current(s) from the previous steps, this will result in the same voltage(s) and/or current(s) when all independent sources would have been switched on together.
