Vapour Recovery System

Vapour recovery: In the oil and gas industry, product vapour is produced by flashing from
high pressure to low pressure, gas-liquid separation in separators, and evaporation from
storage tanks. The vapours generated contain light molecular particles in the liquid. Vapour,
if recovered, can be converted into a usable product that helps increase yields from the
facility. Most applications fall into the category of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).

Some of these compounds affect air quality and cause air pollution and are classified as
hazardous air pollutants (HAP).

The recovery of these vapours eliminates airborne contaminants and thus stops air
pollution.

Over the past few years, due to increased awareness about the loss of valuable products and
stricter emission norms, recovery of manufactured vapours has become mandatory.
Ejectors in Vapour Recovery System:
Ejector vapour recovery systems work in the form of closed loop systems. They absorb
vapours and release the gas into the central state of the compressor. Gas compressors further
compress the vapour mixture and discharge it into the gas supply lines. High pressure air
flow from a gas compressor is used as an energy source by ejector.

As the high pressure gas passes through the ejector, it expands and a low pressure region is
formed which absorbs the vapour. The vapours are mixed into the motive gas and the
mixture is then compressed to the discharge pressure. A recycle line is used between the
ejector discharge and the suction points to control the suction pressure.

Ejector vapour recovery systems are relatively new to the field, but are gaining traction
faster than traditional recovery systems.

At Crystal TCS we have done in-depth research and development to bring ejector solutions
for vapour recovery units.
