infants

● Possible formation of thrombosis

● Safest site for adults and children
older than 7 months
● It is deep and not close to major blood
vessels and nerves

● Not indicated for self-injection
● Difficult to find
● Requires assistance

Dorsogluteal muscles of the buttocks

Advantages
● Easy to find

Disadvantages
● potential for injury to the sciatic nerve
● Difficult site for self-injection
● Thick layers of fat
Rectus Femoris

Advantages
● Recommended if other sites are contraindicated

Disadvantages
● Reports of discomfort after injection
