Астра је компактни аутомобил кога од 

1991. године производи Џенерал моторсова немачка

фирма Опел, а досад је произведен у пет генерације.
Астра се тренутно производи у Џенерал моторсовим фабрикама
у Њемачкој, Белгији, Уједињеном Краљевству, Бразилу, Јужној
Африци, Индији, Пољској и Русији. Све четири генерације доступне су у хечбек верзијама са
троје или петоро врата или као караван, док су прва и друга генерација биле доступне и
као лимузине, кабриолети и купеи. Трећа је генерација умјесто посебних купе и кабриолет
верзија по први пут имала електрично склопиви метални кров.
Прва генерација астре производила се од 1991. до 1998, а друга од 1998. до 2003. године.
Трећа генерација почела се продавати крајем 2003. као модел за 2004. годину. Астра треће
генерације од почетка је била доступна у хечбек верзијама са троје или петоро врата те као
караван, а крајем 2005. године појавио се и купе кабриолет назван астра
твинтоп (енгл. TwinTop). Средином октобра 2006. на изложби аутомобила
у Истанбулу представљена је и лимузина са четворо врата. Актуелна четврта генерација
појавила се 2009. године. The Opel Astra is a compact car/small family car (C-segment)
engineered and manufactured by the German automaker Opel since 1991, currently at its sixth
generation. It was launched in September 1991 (for the 1992 model year) in hatchback, saloon,
and station wagon (known as the Astra Caravan) forms. A sedan delivery/panel (the Astravan) and
a convertible (the Astra Cabrio) also appeared in the early 1990s. These bodystyles were later
followed by a coupé (the Astra GTC) in 2004, the sporty Astra OPC appeared in 2005, the Twin
Top retractable hardtop convertible replaced the soft top convertible in 2006, while the Caravan was
rebadged Astra Sports Tourer from 2009 onwards.
It is branded as the Vauxhall Astra in the United Kingdom, and was rebadged and sold as
the Buick Excelle XT from 2009 until 2015 and as the Buick Verano/Hatchback GS in China from
2015 until 2021. The Holden Astra was discontinued in Australia and New Zealand in 2009,
because exchange rates made importing Opel cars uncompetitive, and was replaced by the locally
assembled Holden Cruze. It briefly returned to the Australian market in 2012, for the first time
badged as an Opel,[1] but was discontinued after Opel withdrew from the country a year later. [2] On 1
May 2014, Opel announced that the Astra GTC and Astra VXR (Astra OPC) would return to
Australia and New Zealand in 2015, again bearing the Holden badge.[3][4]
After Opel was sold by General Motors to PSA Group, the Astra K continued to be produced under
license until it was replaced by the Astra L. Developed by PSA Group, the Astra L was released after
the merge of the company to form Stellantis.[5][6][7]
