Case Analysis Format

Case Title:
State the Title of the case

Problem:

Statement of the problem. The statement of the problem can either be in


declarative or interrogative form. It should be clearly stated in one sentence.
But it should not be answerable with yes or no. In selecting the problem a fish bone
diagram or a tree diagram can help identifying the real problem. The real problem when
solved can also solve the other underlying problems.

Objectives:

State the objectives of the study, one general objective and at least 2 specific
objectives. The specific objectives when solved should lead to the solution of the general
objective.

Areas of Consideration:

The areas of consideration should list the facts and figures that are relevant and
can help in the formulation of the solution. These can be events, figures, persons, and
practices that leads to the identification of the problem, and can also lead to the solution
of the problem.

Alternative Courses of Action:

Statement of the alternative courses of action. The alternative courses actions


should be more than two, the other one is the status quo at which no action will be made.
Alternative courses of action can either be independent from each other or a series of
solutions that need to be implemented one after the other.

Analysis of the Alternative Courses of Action

The analysis of each alternative Courses of Action, identify the advantages of


each alternative. If there is a need for a computation to show the quantitative effects such
as financial ratios, expenses or savings give the computation and its results. The result
should be interpreted (descriptive) to show the magnitude of its effect.

Conclusion:

In this aspect, acknowledge that there is really a problem and state the problem.
Recommendation

Here, choose to recommend the alternative course of action which has the most
number of advantages or the highest savings generated or the lowest expenses incurred.

Action Plan:
Prepare a schedule of activities for the implementation of the course/s of action.
If the recommendation is of several courses of action, prepare a gantt chart to show the
succession of activities and the person responsible for these activities.
