For my Words in Action assignment, I chose prompt 1.

Steven Jobs, Apple CEO and wry technological innovator, died at the age of 56 on Wednesday
from pancreatic cancer. He was a remarkable man, and there are many lessons we can learn
from his character. One lesson is to follow your passions. In our modern school system,
passions are suppressed and vilified in opposition to the main school value of learning and
retaining the main curriculum. Steve Jobs, however, pursued his passion for electronics with a
fire, and in his adulthood, befriended Steve Wozniak, who he soon founded Apple computers
with. Another value we can learn from Steve Jobs is his diligence a devotion to the field of
electronics. After being ousted from the Apple Board of Directors in 1985, you would have
expected the man to falter in his passion for electronics. He did not. Instead, he founded Pixar
Animation Studios and rejoined the Board in 1997. From Steve Jobs, I was inspired to follow my
passions and be diligent in them, too.
