1) What are the characteristics of the Rococo Style and how do they work in one of the Rococo

works of art in this module? Give many specific examples from the work.

The Rococo Style comes from the french word rocaille, which means rocks and shells
and were typically used as decorations in Rococo Style. But, Rococo could also come from
Italian word barocco, which means Baroque, but this style is not as dark and heavy as Baroque.
The charaistics of this style are, superficial pursuit of pleasure, second light and frilly, and third
Shields the rich from real social concerns. One of the examples of work is Jean-Antoine
Watteau, The Embarkation from Cythera, when you look at the painting it looks very light and
airy very light colors and it looks like a romantic piece which is another charasitic.

2) What is Neoclassicism and how does it work in David's Oath of the Horatii? Give lots of
specific examples from the work.

Neoclassicism is the enlightenment that leads to an artistic style during the 70s which is

called Neoclassicism, and it says that there is only one definition, "A return to the classical style
of Ancient Greece and Rome." It shows Neoclassicism because it shows the balance of the
young man on the left and they balance the weight on the right. It also shows symmetry, To the
center of the painting where the young men are making the oath on the swords.

3) What are the characteristics of Classical Music? How do they work in either of the clips from
Mozart's Requiem? Give many specific examples.
